Portland Tradesmen provides expertise in remodeling a wide variety of home spaces including bathrooms, kitchens, basement conversions, additions, as well as custom spaces. We offer a one-year warranty on all work and products, and we are keen on integrating green practices when possible.


Who Will Be Doing The Work?
Each remodel will have a consistent project manager from start to finish. The project manager will be involved from the beginning of the design process through the finish details of the remodel. The Project manager will perform much of the actual remodeling work as well as supervise any other employees or sub-contractors. We understand that every home owner has unique expectations and circumstances regarding their home. Having the daily presence of an on-site manager gives the owner assurance that the person who knows their particular situation will be working to provide a detailed and efficient remodel.


Remodeling vs New Home Construction
Most construction techniques currently used were developed for the home building process rather than remodeling. The process of remodeling a home and building a house are different enough that each warrant their own techniques and skill sets. While home building can be completed by crews trained in narrow skill sets brought in one after the other, a remodel project requires many categories of work (i.e. framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall etc.) to take place in sequence, in a short amount of time and in a limited space. Portland Tradesmen is comprised of a crew that is well trained in all of the common aspects of a remodel instead of introducing a new sub-contractor each step of the project, therefor avoiding scheduling conflicts and delays. Due to the custom nature of remodeling, important problem solving skills are needed. This requires a comprehensive knowledge of how each product or action will affect the rest of the project.


Every Remodel Project Is Unique
To complete a home project successfully, a remodeling contractor must be able to handle a wide range of customized details effectively. The less separation between the design process and implementation, the more likely it is that the details will be precise and the project will come in on schedule and on budget. Portland Tradesmen customizes every remodel to take advantage of the attributes of the existing space, as well as the needs of the client. There are no one-size-fits-all solutions in remodeling and every detail must be custom tailored to fit the existing space in order to achieve integration with the whole house.


Timing
Since the majority of our clients live in their homes as they are being remodeled, timing is critical. This is especially true when the space being remodeled is a highly used area such as a kitchen, bathroom or master bedroom. Having a crew well-trained in all the common elements of a remodel keeps projects moving forward steadily.
